The third edition of the Austrian Samba Festival - I WILL BE THERE!
There are many ways to actively participate in the festival and become part of the samba family. You can choose from various workshops, join a parade group or support us as a volunteer. If you need accommodation as a participant, we will also be happy to help you.
You can choose between the workshops Samba Batucada Beginner, Samba Batucada Advanced, Afro-Brazilian Dance and Yodeling.

We offer all participants help with booking accommodation in the Lehrlingshaus Hartberg – just a 7-minute walk from the main square.
All rooms are 4-bed rooms, this is also the standard occupancy, breakfast is included.
You can register for one or more options using the registration form. There you will also find details on workshops, relocation groups, volunteer jobs and accommodation. Group registration is not possible – each person must register separately.

Batucada Beginner
Friday, 14:00-15:30 Music school
This is aimed at anyone aged 12 and over who has little or no experience with classical samba instruments. The workshop takes place with Clarissa Altmann at the music school. During this time, you can try out the instrument of your choice and will learn a piece that will then be presented in a short performance on the stage on the main square in Hartberg from 4.00 pm. Participation in the workshop is free of charge, donations are welcome. The instruments will be provided by us – if you have your own, you are welcome to bring it along.
Batucada Advanced
Saturday, 09:30-13:30 Music school
This will take place under the direction of our star guest Negão da Serrinha and Clarissa Altmann at the music school. Together they will rehearse a song in the style of samba funk (Bangalafumenga). And in between there will be excursions into other rhythms. What has been learned will be presented during the parade at 5 pm and on stage.
Please note that there is a fee of 40€ for this workshop to cover a T-shirt, a lunch snack and a meal with a drink.
Afro-Brazilian Dance
Saturday, 10:30-12:30 Rooms at Kirchplatz
The aim of the workshop: to immerse yourself in Brazilian culture and learn more about Afro-Brazilian dance. It will be led by Anderson Pinheiro da Silva. The Brazilian received his training at the BCOA – Ballet cultural origens Africana Dance Company, among others. His experience ranges from modern and jazz dance to acrobatics and Brazilian folkloric dance. He has performed in a video production of the “Pussycat Dolls”, “Die Fledermaus” at the “Theater an der Wien”, among others. There is a fee of 40€ for this workshop to cover a T-shirt, a lunch snack and a meal with a drink.
Sunday, 13:00-14:30 Rooms at Kirchplatz
Brand new in 2024: The yodeling workshop will be led by Linde and Vinzenz Härtel, who have many years of experience and, above all, enjoy yodeling. The aim of the workshop is to rehearse one or two yodels or alpine songs and perform them on the festival stage at around 2.50 pm. No previous knowledge is necessary, just a desire to sing! The workshop is free of charge.

Parade-groups
Brand new 2024! This year's Samba in Hartberg Festival will take place under the motto “Magic of Friendship”. By choosing our own motto, we are following the example of the large samba schools of Rio de Janeiro. The motto is to be understood more as a story that is told by the numerous parade groups (the so-called Alas) and their magnificent costumes during the big parades. Following our example, there will also be the opportunity to participate in a parade group for the first time in the Samba parade in Hartberg on Saturday (10.08.2024 at 5 pm). There is a choice of three different groups, all of which have a very special connection to the “Magic of Friendship”. Details of each group and how to register can be found below.
99 Balloons
Already as children, we learn what friendships are. They often carry us, are diverse, colorful and characterized by the lightness of a balloon. They teach us to empathize with our friends and also to share with each other.
Parade group for children aged 5 – 12 + accompanying adults (supervision required). Costume for children: decorated T-shirt, children’s headdress, basket with sweets to hand out during the parade; adults receive balloons.
Participation fee: 18 Euro per child (adults do not have to pay a participation fee for this group).
We are the Champions
From the age of 5. Soccer is firmly established both in Brazil and in Hartberg. It is not only a sporting activity, but also an expression of friendship. Be it friendship within the club, between fans or between soccer clubs.
Parade group for: Children and adults (children must be accompanied by an adult who has the duty of supervision). Costume: we will provide you with a Brazil flag or a Brazil baseball cap. We will provide 2-3 footballs for the parade to change a pass or two during the parade. Please bring your own jersey / shirt of your favorite club for the parade.
Participation fee: 18 Euro per person
From the age of 5. We can experience magic through friendships – they can support us in everyday life, catch us in sad moments and make us laugh and cry. They inspire us in our creativity and create festivals like Samba in Hartberg.
Parade group for children and adults (children must be accompanied by an adult who has the duty of supervision). Children’s costume: cape, sorcerer’s apprentice hat, magic wand and a small surprise. Adult costume: cape, magician’s hat, magic accessory.
Participation fee: 24 Euro
